Employers demanding FB password

There is a big debate happening in congress as to if it is legal or not for an employer to demand Facebook passwords from the candidates. I think this is one of the most outrageous things that I have heard. Why should I give personal information like that to an employer? I have nothing to hid on Facebook, but if they want to know what I have on my page, they should friend request me and then they can look at everything they want to. I am happy that some states are standing up and saying no to these employer's requests.
